Here are some of the most common
questions we answer every day:
Q: Are these schools really accredited?
A: YES! We only include schools that are fully
accredited as determined by the U.S. Department of Education.
Q: How come I haven't heard of this before?
A: This is an old concept. It was first explored by the University
of Wisconsin with the Pony Express in the 1880s. But it is
expanding weekly as more colleges and universities open this option
continuously.
Q: Do people really do this and earn their degrees by distance
and for Life Experience?
A: Absolutely! Last year over 50,000 students graduated from these
fully accredited schools. And many of these students earned their
degrees on credit earned from Life Experience alone.
Q: How long does it take to earn a degree this way?
A: You can usually finish your degree more quickly than in a
traditional class.. While some courses are tied directly to the
class schedule of the sit-down
students, most are self-paced. It is not at all uncommon to finish
two courses a month with 2-3 hours of homework a day. Credit for
life experience is even quicker. It is possible to earn your
entire credit for life degree in as little as 3 months.
Q: How come correspondence schools have such a bad name?
A: Because of the many phony diploma mills that you see in the back
of many magazines across the country and on late night t.v. These
schools aren't illegal but they are NOT accredited by the
organizations that matter and their degrees are not seen as credible.
You cannot transfer credits from those schools into a normal college
or university. We've all heard of LaSalle all of our lives but the
founder was imprisoned in 1996 for fraud by the U.S. Government!
Be protected from this trouble by using the information we give you.
Q: Can I really earn credit for my life/work experience?
A: Yes, definitely. The vast majority of colleges and universities
in the U.S. offer some credit for life/work experience. Some
schools allow up to two years of credit this way, and in one case a full
four year degree could be earned this way in any of 119 different
majors.
Q: How are courses actually taken?
A: A wide variety of methods are used including: correspondence,
guided study, audio and videotapes, satellite, online, e-mail, contract
learning, equivalency exams, etc. All of this is explained in the
book.
Q: What are costs like?
A: About the same as college anywhere - which means all over the
map from incredibly inexpensive to very expensive. The MBA from
Duke University costs $83,000! There are many schools though that are
very reasonable (under $2,000 annual tuition) and we offer a comparison
guide for each school so you can see at a glance which are the best
bargains and which are most expensive. There are major tips on how to
save big bucks at the Bachelorīs level using equivalency exams and
credit for life experience.
Q: Can I start any time or do I have to stick to a typical
semester schedule?
A: Most courses can be started anytime and are self-paced. That
allows you to proceed as fast as you choose. I know of people who have
completed a four year program in as little as 10 months this way - from
fully accredited colleges.
